Barston Lake

It is not often anglers have the opportunity to fish a well-established lake which has been in private hands for over 25 years, but with the development of West Midland Golf Club between Solihull and Balsall Common, they now have free range to fish one of the largest single stretches of stillwater in the Midlands.
Developed around the site of former gravel workings just a short drive from Junction 4A of the M6, Barston Lakes offers fishing on the 21-acre Barston Lake itself, a one-mile stretch of the River Blythe, a new purpose-built Match Pool and a virgin pleasure pool. It’s a package which offers everything from carp and pleasure angling to fishing for trout, chub, pike, perch and other species in the river.
With an island half way down its length, depths in the main Barston Lake vary from four feet near the new Club House to 14 feet at the far end where there are reed beds and where the water is generally more protected by trees. Although little fished in the past. [More]
