LIVE CHAT on matchfishing-scene  12th February 8pm-9pm with Keith Arthur……………..click here

Mr Keith Arthur!! Yes people we have asked if Keith would kindly host a Q&A session and he has agreed. The date is 12th February, between 8 and 9.

Keith as you know is probably one of the most recognised faces (and voice) of the UK angling scene. This is your chance to ask him about his full and varied angling career, as well as his views on the current changes within angling.

The chatbox feature will be used specifically for this and the number of characters increased to allow for lengthier responses. This promises to be another excellent feature and we hope you all enjoy it.

Many thanks to Keith once again for giving up his time. online vantin

Well it seems that all my hard work of the last couple of months has paid off as I managed to buy some time this month to introduce the “Shady Shallow” range of floats as promised in last months Newsletter. I can only say that the response has been phenomenal as I am now starting to make a third large batch of these floats. The first person to receive a set of these was Adrian (Slim Shady) Williams because it was Slim who I named the float after due to his love of fishing up in the water. He phoned me on his way back from Rolfs Lake to tell me that he was “well happy” with the performance of his new floats after the rather extreme test which the Rolfs inhabitants had put them through. Anglers World Holidays is launching two completely new Irish festivals in 2009 but says that the 2009 Monaghan Pairs Festival will still be the number one.

“It is certainly the ‘hot ticket’ on the Irish match scene”, said Anglers World boss Martin Founds.  “The five-day competition takes place on Lough Muckno during September and has consistently produced the best match catches going back for more than 20 years.

“This year the bream didn’t appear, yet the average catch was 36 lb per-man, per-day, of roach between six and eight ounces!”The first of two brand new sponsored festivals takes place on the River Shannon at Portumna in April and is sponsored by the Shannon Oaks Hotel & Country Club.

The four day event is timed to coincide with the mass movement of roach and hybrids from Lough Derg into the river when big catches are most likely. The other is at Ballinamore – a famous Irish angling holiday centre – where €1,500 and the return of all entry fees is the lure to some of County Leitrim’s very best waters. Plans are already in hand to create facilities on five totally different proven waters holding bream, roach, hybrids and tench.

Portumna International Angling Festival April 20-23 Lower River Shannon €1000 sponsorship and return of all entry fees

Banagher Festival April 27- 1 May Lower River Shannon. £500 sponsorship and return of all entry fees

Ballinamore Spring Festival  June 1-5 Fishing on lakes around County Leitrim. €1500 sponsorship and return of all entry fees

SconeZone Floats

by Zinky | May 22, 2008 | In N4T News, Tackle No Comments

http://www.sconezone.co.ukSconeZone Floats: In early 2006, I had the honour of seeing a handmade float manufactured for the first time. Well, I say “honour”, but what I really mean is that I visited a rather large gentleman from Northampton who just happens to be recognised as the best Float-maker in Britain, and took him a chocolate cake as bribery. I had to know how these things were made you see! [More]

In Match Fishing’s recent survey, 98 per cent of readers who replied voted in favour of scrapping the three-month river close season. Dave Harrell met up with the Environment Agency’s head of fisheries to talk about the situation.  [More]

Just a quick circular to let everyone know that the Hillbillyfloats “Shady Shallows”

are now available to order and will appear on the website just as soon as I can get a couple up to Chris Royle for him to photograph etc. I have managed to take the image below but taking pictures is not my strongest skill.
Specifications and use……The “Shady Shallow” SS design has been finalised after a lot of thought as follows. [More]
